signature events

Morven offers a series of unique signature events honoring our local and national histories while celebrating our place in the community.

Grand Homes & Gardens

Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the 2026 Grand Homes & Gardens series, Freedom at Home: Telling the Full Story of America's Founding Homes and Gardens, examines the estates of signers of the Declaration. How have these spaces, all sites of American slavery, engaged and challenged founding ideals of freedom and liberty?

Earth Day

Earth Day at Morven is a free, family-friendly celebration held in partnership with Sustainable Princeton, featuring hands-on activities, educational displays, and eco-conscious fun for all ages. Visitors can explore ideas for green living, enjoy the gardens, and connect with local organizations committed to environmental stewardship.

Princeton Garden Tour

Presented in partnership by the Historical Society of Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden, this self-guided tour invites guests to explore the historic landscapes of both institutions—alongside rare access to private gardens not typically open to the public. From formally structured grounds to intimate, nature-forward retreats, the curated selection of gardens showcases the breadth of Princeton’s horticultural character.

Festival of Trees

Morven’s annual winter decorative display has become a must-see Princeton holiday tradition. Visitors enjoy the museum’s elegant galleries, mantels, and porches artfully decorated for the holidays by local businesses, garden clubs, and non-profit organizations.

Spring Plant Sale

Our Plant Sale has become a sought after as an early spring resource for unusual and distinct varieties that thrive in New Jersey. All proceeds benefit our exhibitions and education programs.

Morven in may

A Special Year, A Special Evening

In 2026, Morven’s spring fundraiser takes on new meaning. In recognition of America’s Semiquincentennial, Morven will present an elevated evening experience in place of our traditional Morven in May, marking the opening of our landmark exhibition honoring New Jersey’s five signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Fourth Of July

In 1783, Morven hosted Congressional delegates celebrating Independence Day. Over 240 years later, the museum continues this tradition, utilizing our role as the home of a signer of the Declaration of Independence and as New Jersey’s first Governor’s mansion to engage the public in activities that explore and reflect on our full history and what it means to be an active citizen.
