Take a virtual lunch break with us! Morven’s Curator Corner invites you for a free behind-the-scenes look at new acquisitions, research, and exhibition development with the museum’s curatorial department.
This month’s Curator Corner will feature a special collection item currently on view in Morven’s landmark exhibition Five Independent Souls: The Signers from New Jersey: the painting Prospect, the Seat of Mr. Morgan at Princeton, 1797 by Maria Templeton (1775–1851). The watercolor, done when Maria was twenty-two years old, depicts Prospect Farm, the site of present-day Prospect House on the Princeton University campus. Learn more about this female artist and Col. George Morgan's home at Prospect.
Deputy Director and Curator Beth Allan will examine this interesting female artist and important historic view while also sharing insight into the work's recent conservation treatment.
The program will be held via Zoom webinar and is offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required in order to receive a link. The presentation will be recorded and shared with all registrants following the event.
