Learn about another recent addition to the Morven collection: a watercolor and ink mourning picture made in remembrance of those lost in the 1844 explosion aboard the USS Princeton. The explosion of the Peacemaker, a gun designed by Commodore Robert F. Stockton, killed 8 people. Take a deeper dive into this little known national tragedy and get a closer look at this beautiful example of American mourning art.
The program will be held via Zoom webinar and is offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required in order to receive a link. The presentation will be recorded and shared with all registrants following the event.
