Programs & Activities
Part 1. Self Guided Activities - Scavenger Hunt & Color Hunt
Notice what you see at Morven! Look around to discover fascinating details, spot all shades of colors, and sketch them down as you walk through the exhibitions.
Part 2. Storytimes
Join us for storytimes at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.! We will share two stories exploring the themes of Black History Month and Presidents’ Day.
Part 3. Arts & Crafts
Morven will provide all materials, just bring your imagination and creative spirits!
Activity 1 - Build-A-Pet
Come build your own pet with model magic clay! Do you know that almost all US Presidents had beloved animal friends at the White House? From dogs to parrots, from possums to crocodiles, a wide variety of animals—even the ones you might not want as a pet—have been dear family members of past presidents. Mix colors, sculpt clays, and get ready to handmake a pet from scratch.
Activity 2 - Make Your Own Zine
Make your very own pamphlet with just one piece of paper! Draw, cut, collage, and create a story while learning about the history of Zine. This activity celebrates the literary journals, or so-called “little magazines,” published and distributed in the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s. You are welcome to bring your own materials that you’d like to collage with, such as newspapers, magazines, or photos.
Activity 3 - “My Wish For America” Quilt
The year of 2026 marks the 250th birthday of the United States of America. What do you wish for America in the next 250 years? Design a square with your wish and place it in the box! We add squares to the quilt periodically for display in the museum.
