The result of years researching the complex connections between northern and southern families and the interstate movement of enslaved people, Morven’s newest exhibition Northern Family, Southern Ties unveils a story stretching from the late eighteenth century through the Civil War. Join the museum’s curatorial and research team for an in-depth look at this story, the work that went into bringing it to light, and what it means for our larger understanding of American history.

The tour will be led by historian Sharece Blakney and curators Beth Allan and Jesse Gordon Simons. This program is limited to 15 participants. Pre-registration is required.

The weather date for this event is Thursday, January 29, 2026.
